April 1st

April 1, 2010

Today is April 1st. April Fool’s day. Anyone ever wonder how this day came about? I have…

Here is what I’ve found:

* The earliest recorded association between April 1 and foolishness can be found in Chaucer‘s Canterbury Tales (1392) (Wikipedia)

* In 1539, Flemish poet Eduard de Dene wrote of a nobleman who sent his servants on foolish errands on April 1. (Wikipeadiea)

* Ancient cultures, including those of the Romans and Hindus, celebrated New Year’s Day on or around April 1. (inforplease.com)

* April Fools’ Day is observed throughout the Western world. Practices include sending someone on a “fool’s errand,” looking for things that don’t exist; playing pranks; and trying to get people to believe ridiculous things. (infoplease.com)

* In Scotland, for example, April Fool’s Day is actually celebrated for two days. The second day is devoted to pranks involving the posterior region of the body. It is called Taily Day. The origin of the “kick me” sign can be traced to this observance. (wilstar.com/holidays)

Those are just some of what I’ve found. I just figure that everyone the world over, enjoys a good prank, so we all created a day to celebrate this past-time. Sounds okay to me, but I usually can’t come up with anything good to prank…I laugh to easily, but I DO enjoy hearing others pranks!

***Today, it’s been 3 weeks since Michael past, almost to the hour. Love you, giggle boy!***

So, tell me your best prank!
Who did it involve?
What did you do?
TELL ME!!!
